Proper Necktie Handling

Necktie Safekeeping

Storage
Do you fold up your suit and tuck it away in a drawer? Your necktie is made of fabric just like your other nice clothes and storing it improperly for long periods of time could leave permanent creases. In the same way that you hang your suits, hang your ties on a tie rack in a ventilated area – which enables gravity to return the previously knotted tie back to its original shape. Also, be sure to move them occasionally to prevent creasing on the fold. (Note: While rolling a tie is acceptable, it doesn’t let the fabric return to its normal shape with the help of gravity.)

Traveling
When hanging a necktie isn’t an available option – during travel, for instance – the two best alternatives are to:

  • Gently fold your silk ties into four and slip them in the inside pocket of your suit jackets
  • Roll them up (starting with the narrow end) and put them in a small box and tuck those boxes safely in the corners of your luggage.

When you arrive to your room, hang your tie on the bathroom door and turn the shower on. The steam should help relax the fabric.

Testimonials
" I recieved nothing but the best of compliments the first time I wore it, both on the style and on the quality. The fact that there's a 'hidden jem' tucked away is quite a unique, and attractive bonus. You really have an amazing product here and I look forward to purchasing another one soon! "
