  1. Are the models visible to others while I am wearing the tie?
    • The models are printed on the back of the tie on the area known as tie tipping. Under normal wearing conditions your tie looks like any other tie you would wear to the office. The model on the back of the tie is not visible to others unless you show them. Even if for some reason your tie flips over and someone close by happens to be looking, only a portion of the image, namely the model's head, would be visible. Full view of the model requires turning the tie over and purposefully opening up the flaps on the back of the tie.

We have created a Photo Album to show our Pin-Up Ties in detail - front and back, as well as the "opened" back of the tie, displaying the tipping.

  2. Are all of the models naked?
    • No. The Rialto Tie Company offers models in various states of undress including full bikinis. We recognize that our customers have different levels of comfort with nudity either for themselves or as a gift for others.

To browse our full selection of ties by model, go to the Shop By Models necktie selection page.

  3. Why are the ties all considered limited edition?
    • The Rialto Tie Company limits each model to only a small number of ties in each fabric that we offer. If you want to own one of each, your best bet is to buy them all at once.

We do this partially for exclusivity. For each model's image that we choose to put onto the back of our ties we agree to a run quantity for that image - often referenced as a "Design Run". This means we agree that any particular model's image will only be printed X number of times. "X" is a variable - it can change per model; however, part of the run count quantity equation must consider how many different silk woven patterns are used. For instance, if a model's image is agreed to be printed only 150 times, but onto 15 different silk woven tie patterns, then this series (or this Design Run) is essentially limited to only 10 prints per woven silk tie pattern.

If, at a later date, we make a decision to have more ties created with the same model then this will become Design Run #2 for that model. We DO place a maximum cap on how many times any single model's image can be used. Thus, if we do decide to make a Design Run #2 for any model - first, those ties would be designated as Design Run #2; however, furthermore, because we cap model images, you are never going to see a Design Run Count too high.

  4. What is the tie tipping?
    • At each end of the tie is the tipping. Tipping is simply a finishing touch to cover up the work below and give each end a clean look. And if a designer name is woven into the tipping for branding purposes, it is called custom-tipping.

If you do not already know, the Rialto Tie Company custom-tipping features a rather unique image, click here for our photo album showcasing our custom tippings. Unlike other ties, The Rialto Tie Company custom-tipping runs the length of the tie and completely encompasses the lining.

  5. I was given a card with a code on it, how do I use the code?
    • Your card was given to you as a gift by a representative of The Rialto Tie Company or someone acting on behalf of the Rialto Tie Company. In addition to a code, the card likely describes a specific discount for a tie or ties. To take advantage of the discount code, you can shop the website placing product in your shopping cart and then proceeding to check out.

During the check out process, a field prompting you to enter a coupon code will appear. Enter the code and proceed with your checkout. All discounts will be applied as specified on the card. Depending on the nature of how you were distributed a card with a code on it, you may need to wait several hours to a day for the code to be activated.

  6. What are these cards with codes and how do I get one?
    • These cards function as business cards for representatives of The Rialto Tie Company and when the card has a hand written code on the card, it also represents special discounts for friends of The Rialto Tie Company. The cards are our orderly way of keeping track of promotions.

As for getting a card with a code, like most good things in life, you just need to be in the right place at the right time.

If for some reason you believe that you are important enough of a person to warrant a "Code Card", contact us.  If we agree that you are important, we will gladly issue you a personal Code Card just for you.

  11. How do I know if my tie matches my outfit?
    • Without one of us being right there to help dress you, we cannot guarantee anything.   Below are some basic rules with more information available here.

For the most simple solution, wear a white shirt with your tie, this will almost always match.

If you wear a solid color shirt, consider contrasting yet complementary colors or a tie containing the same color but of a variation of shade. Also, you could where a tie with just a touch of the color of the shirt mixed in with other colors.

If you where stripes or checks, you will need to consider both color and pattern.   As a general rule, you do not want to mix stripes and plaids, unless you graduate to a fansion expert. If you wear a solid color tie, consider a color to match the lines of the pattern in the shirt.

If you do go for a patterned shirt and patterned necktie, such as stripes or plaids, then try for a tie which is of a different pattern and that contains a much darker primary color.

In a worse case, contact us here a Rialto, possible send a picture, and we will do what we can.

  12. I received my Rialto tie and there was a crease from a fold during shipping, what can I do?
    • The Rialto Tie Company takes great care to make sure that your tie arrives to you in perfect condition and ready to wear. If for some reason there is a crease in your tie, first consider hanging your tie up and letting gravity help eliminate the crease.

We also have a page overviewing other techniques for eliminating creases from your tie which you can try.

Of course, if you are not satisfied with your Rialto Tie, you have the opportunity to return your tie to The Rialto Tie Company for a replacement if you would prefer. Please refer to our return policy for more information.

  13. What are the dimensions of a Rialto tie; what is the length and width of the tie?
    • All ties from The Rialto Tie Company are 4 inches wide at the widest point and 58 inches long.

When you receive your tie and pick it up for the first time, you will immediately notice the weight of the tie. The feeling is very substantial and gratifying. We encourage you to compare the weight and dimensions to other ties in your wardrobe. The Rialto Tie Company product will compare favorably.

Special consideration went into our tie design and dimension. These dimensions ensure a classic look, a lovely drape, and for larger men, a tie that is not too short. Because more fabric is more costly, some tie manufacturers will unfortunately scrimp on the dimensions producing ties that can be too short and too narrow. Manufacturers are betting that you will not pay attention to dimensions and focus only on their brand and fabric design and not the construction or dimensions. The Rialto Tie Company considers the WHOLE tie, including our famous tie tipping.

  14. Will you be adding more models and ties to your inventory?

  16. Can I become a Rialto Tie model?
    • Yes!

The Rialto Tie Company is always on the lookout for pin-up models for our ties. If you are a professional model or aspiring professional model - or simply believe that you want to be on the back of our ties and you have what it takes - and you are willing to pose in a bikini or less, please email us your professionally taken photographs for consideration.

Emails must be sent to modelimages@rialtotiecompany.com. You *MUST* be at least 18 years of age to qualify - any images received without proof of model's age, or for which we are unsure of the model's age, will be immediately deleted.

Rialto Tie will not use any model images without first contacting the model to acquire consent and proof of age. At which time we inform the model of the run count for the image (please read "Why are the ties all considered limited edition?" above for run quantity information).

If you have any questions, please contact us before submitting any photos.

  17. What are the square boxes with colors next to the Simulated Tie Images?
    • These are the colors used for the screen-printing of the model onto the fabric.

Often you will see screen printing that utilizes a four color (CMYK) process to accomplish the full spectrum of colors.  This "full-color" process using CMYK combines colors to create the full spectrum of colors needed for photographic-quality printing. This basically means a large number of colors can be simulated using only 4 screen - this reduces printing costs, setup time, and ink.  However, the inks are required to blend and thus are more translucent, meaning a compromise with vibrancy of color.

We chose to not use the cost reducing four-color (CMYK) solution and instead use a set-color solution to ensure vibrant colors, good opacity, and ultimately a good looking model print for the back of your tie!

Testimonials
" Excellent service!!! I requested a special sale to Canada, and was quickly responded by friendly professional help. Rialto went out of their way to grant a sale to Canada. They informed me of costs and possible custom fees (beyond Rialto's control) prior to shipping. I have done a lot of shopping online from various companies and have not received such extensive help. As well, ties are amazing quality, nicely packaged and detailed. "
